Va Ardiendio
2017 Carthusian PRE Andalusian Stallion
Escamillo x VA Manoletes Ysabela
Now revised & approved for breeding by the ANCCE Spanish Stud Book
Ardiendo is a unique combination of two of the greatest Carthusian Andalusian Stallions in all of US and Canada. His sire is the legendary Escamillo - sire of IALHA Triple crown champion Brioso MA, while and his dam is the grandaughter of Sandokan. Both stallions have sired numerous Multi National Champions in both US & Canada. His dam Manolete’s Ysabela won National Champion Gold Movement winner multiple times (among other titles), right up until the year prior to Ardiendo’s birth in 2017.
Ardiendo’s pedigree has set him up for the upmost success. He is an authentic carthusian Andalusian, with correct PRE confirmation that ensures that high levels of collection and agility come naturally. He is well muscled, with a thick arching neck, clean legs and strong hooves. He has a deep, relaxed flowy walk, excellent collection and extension ability in the trot, and a very balanced and uphill canter. He has a gorgeous head with big beautiful PRE eyes and long thick mane and tail. He is exceptionally well tempered, gentle soul, and has never once been agressive in any way. He lives outside with other geldings 24/7 and remains easy to handle and hack out with around mares. He is the most friendly people loving horse I’ve ever met, whinnying his gentle greeting to any and all that pass by. He is also an absolutely brilliant thinker, handles new or stressful situations like a veteran, and quickly learns new things.
Ardiendo is currently training in academic dressage and liberty; as well as venturing out on the trail to explore and enjoy nature. Photographers love him for his expressive movements, host of tricks and ability to work at liberty.
Sire - Escamillo (Ocioso VIII x Habama VIII)
Dam - VA Manoletes Ysabela (Mystics Manolete x VMF Valencia)
Ysabela is a 2010 National Champion PRE grey Andalusian mare. Her dam is our multi-national Champion mare VMF Valencia and her sire was our multi-national Champion stallion, Mystique’s Manolete. Ysabela did very well at the 2016 National Show winning the coveted title of National Champion Andalusian Best Movement in a class of 15 horses. She was also Reserve National Champion Andalusian Sr Mare (a close second to her sister VA Manolete’s Triana who won) In 2011, Ysabela was the National Champion filly, 1 year and under and Reserve National Champion Filly, 2 and under. In both of these classes she was also the Gold Medal Movement winner. This girl is a real mover and an outstanding dressage prospect. In 2017 we had Ysabela in a Juan Manuel Muñoz Diaz clinic and he said that Ysabela had the best walk he had ever seen on an Andalusian ever, and was very impressed with her trot and canter.

The Bloodline
All the horses listed below are influential horses that appear on Ardiendo’s pedigree
The Carthusian (Cartujano) horse
VA Ardiendo is bred nearly exclusively of Cathusian bloodlines (Aprox 95%) The Carthusian Andalusian is considered the oldest and purest strain of Andalusians. Specific breeding of the Spanish Carthusian horse began with the Cartujano Monks, as long ago as in the 1400’s. The Carthusian monks utilized their intuition in their selective breeding process; and were among the first people to keep records of breeding. They passionately guarded the bloodlines they created; even refusing a royal order to introduce Neapolitan and central European horses into their stock. Today, roughly 82% of the Pura Raza Espanola (PRE) population in Spain contains Cartujano blood. But there are less than 3% pure blood Cartujano horses within the PRE population.
